What do you pay for your readers?
By Cindy Bolley
Since I have been this fun age of 50ish plus a few I have found that the fine print is getting hard to head. I have had to break down and buy a pair of readers or cheaters as some people like to call them. You can usually find an end cap at your local pharmacy with a whole selection of readers. A style for every taste. It just so happens that when I went shopping for a pair of readers, the place I looked didn't have the strength +1.25 in any style that I liked so I thought I would check out another drug store on my way home. My next stop was Target. Gosh I love that store. I know that my local Target gets a great deal of support from me. I buy all of my household items there all of my cleaning supplies and my paper products. I also buy all of my cat and dog stuff there. Since I have a whole house full of critter my bill for just feeding these angels is very large. That is why I always shop at Target for all of my supplies, they have the best prices in town. Target always has at their entrance a bunch of dollar items. It always varies and it changes week to week. I usually just do a quick glance as to what is offered. But...this day, Holy Cow!!!! I zero in on READERS. Imagine that just what I was shopping for HCIT? Now this bin is full of readers. Every shape and every color and design and strength imaginable. Right next to it is a bin filled with eye glass cases designed to go with these readers. Now this would be cool enough for a cheap-scape like me but... Are you ready for this??? Both the readers and the eye glass cases are 75% OFF. Can you imagine... I think they were waiting for me to come in. be still my heart. May I say I was in my glory. I took all of the +1.25's and put them in my cart and of course you have to have a case for each so I took a case for each color. I was giddy to say the least. If I would have needed a stronger strength I would have been able to get twice as many. Who knew your eyes usually need a stronger strength as time passes. I wish I would have had that knowledge then. Well it does not matter I bought 10 pair of +1.25's each with it's own glass case and that came to a total of $5.00. I must say...I did good. no one was prouder of me than me. I walked out of that Target store grinning like the Cheshire cat. That was several years ago and to this day I am wearing a few of those readers. I always have a pair on my head. Sometimes 2 at a time. I have them all over the house. I was at the dollar store the other day and I found a pair of sun-glass readers but I paid a whole buck for them. I was a big spender... I bought 2 pair, they are blue. Who would ever buy a blue pair? Me that's who, because they were a whole dollar and as I write this out on paper (as I always do) I am sitting in the sun and I have them on and I can see perfectly. I am also wearing on the top of my head a purple pair of cheaters with poke-a-dots. I splurged on this new pair when I bought the 2 blue pair. Just like bags and shoes you can never have to many readers. How many do you have?
